To the Voters of
the 6th Legislative District:
My
name is Dick Beebe and I am running for Monroe County Legislator
in the 6th District. I am asking for your support in
the November elections.
For
the last several months, I’ve talked with many people as I have
canvassed the district meeting and talking with the residents of
our community. I
respect their input, insight, support, and candor in discussing
the issues important for the person who holds this office.
Monroe
County offers a diverse community for it's residents. The process
of County Government has been floundering for years. The county
budget deficit continues with no valid recommendation of
correction in sight. The continuation of adjusting assessments,
increasing the property taxes and the working relationship with
ALL our towns, villages, and city has to improve.
I am
not new to municipal government. I ran the Village Fire Department
in Homer, New York first as Chief and then President. I gained
experience in managing a budget and working closely with the
Village Government. I
later was privileged to become a Village Trustee. In that
position, I learned a great deal about the workings of the Village
water, sewer, and police departments. I also spent time working
with other municipalities and various officials at the State and
Federal levels. And in 2001, I became the first ever elected
Democrat Mayor in Homer.
Personally,
my family and myself have lived through the downsizing of
corporate America; I know what it is to have to start over again.
I know what it takes to maintain and preserve our businesses and
the community’s infrastructure. I know what it takes to run for
office, even when it seems you’re outnumbered.
Monroe
County Democrats made great strides in the 2006 elections and it
can continue in 2007. We can take control of the County
Legislature. One thing I’ve learned from my experience is
that it takes more than just a candidate talking the talk to get a
vote. It takes people like you sharing your thoughts and
ideas to create success. Please join in the good fight this
year and put Monroe County and the Town of Greece back to an open
Government the people deserve.
