Brian P. Green was appointed Monroe County District Attorney by Governor Kathy Hochul in September 2025. Prior to his appointment, he served as an Irondequoit Town Justice and as a Senior Deputy County Attorney in the Monroe County Law Department.

Green brings extensive prosecutorial experience to the office. For a decade, he served as an Assistant District Attorney in Monroe County, most notably as Deputy Chief of the Major Felony Bureau. In that capacity, he oversaw and supervised major cases, responded to homicide, arson, and explosion scenes, and managed a complex caseload that included homicides and other high-profile prosecutions. His work earned state-wide recognition when the International Association of Arson Investigators named him Arson Prosecutor of the Year.

After leaving the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, Green became the Supervising Assistant Special Prosecutor for the New York State Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs, where he handled sensitive cases and provided oversight in matters involving vulnerable populations.

Earlier in his career, Green worked in Ohio following his graduation from law school. He served as Elections Counsel in the Office of the Ohio Secretary of State and as a law clerk for a Senior U.S. District Court Judge.

In addition to his prosecutorial work, Green has a strong commitment to teaching and mentorship. He has served -as an adjunct professor of legal studies at St. John Fisher University and as an adjunct professor of criminal justice and paralegal studies at Monroe Community College.

District Attorney Green is a graduate of Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio. He earned his undergraduate degree from SUNY Brockport after beginning his studies at Monroe Community College. He lives in Irondequoit with his family and volunteers as a coach with the Irondequoit Soccer Club.
